I've Been Everywhere, written by Geoff Mack, was apparently
inspired by his 1954 journey from the UK to Australia on a 1954 Panther
(see newspaper article). The song was
recorded in 1960
by Lucky Starr and it became an Australian hit. It has since been
recorded hundreds of time in, apparently, hundreds of languages. Hank
Snow's chart-topping 1963 version won Geoff a citation. The original
Panther is apparently at the
Tamworth "Walk a Country Mile" Centre in Tamworth, NSW, Australia.
The band Mad Dog have a song called Panther Blues,
featured
an big sloper being kicked over behind the music starting at the end of
the song. A POC member is/was lead vocals and guitar. They were
performing
~2000.
